Herbal Healing

This blog is dedicated to herbal healing and other natural health remedies. In an attempt to deepen my own knowledge, I will share information on a variety of herbs, focusing largely on easy to find Western plants, as well as methods for preparing herbal medicines and natural beauty treatments. I am not a certified herbalist, licensed cosmetologist, or physician, so please use the information on this blog at your own risk! I've been an aspiring herbalist for several years, and I hope to finally get my certification sometime this year.

I've started using more natural skin care products and making my own stuff, but I have a question. Do you know of any formulas for a natural makeup remover? I feel like it's just as important as all the other products I put on my face. Thank you so much!

Good for you for making the switch!  I recently started using jojoba oil as a makeup remover.  It’s a bit expensive (I recently paid about $10 for 2 ounces of organic jojoba oil), but completely worth it since it’s non-irritating, non-allergenic and multi-purpose!  I pour several drops in my hands and smooth the oil on my face and then remove makeup with a cotton ball - it works for eye make up, too!

Jojoba oil spreads easily and absorbs into the skin, providing all-day moisture.  It’s also very similar to human skin oil, so it can “trick” the skin into thinking it’s produced enough oil and thus balance oil production.  Use as hair conditioner and lip balm, too!
